Ushering in spring with beauty and force, the Colleagues held their 32nd annual spring luncheon along with Oscar de la Renta on April 19 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel to further their fundraising and awareness crusade to make a difference in the lives of women, children, and families. This year’s event, hosted by television host and best-selling author Cristina Ferrare, honored award-winning actress Catherine Oxenberg and her daughter India Oxenberg, who received The Colleagues Champion of Children Award, in recognition for their work to make a lasting impact on the lives of children.
The mother-daughter duo helped bring to light and to justice the NXIVM Cult which exploited women through sex trafficking, including the younger Oxenberg, as chronicled in the two award-winning documentary film series, “The Vow” and “Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult,” Catherine’s book “Captive: A Mother’s Crusade to Save Her Daughter from a Terrifying Cult,” and India’s memoir “Still Learning.” which explored India’s experience being lured into the cult.
Since 1950, The Colleagues have used their charity to advance their mission of serving Los Angeles’ most vulnerable children harmed by community and family violence, abuse and neglect. The non-profit organization has donated over $25 million to CII through their high-end resale and vintage clothing shop and their annual spring luncheon. In addition to direct services, CII reaches more children through professional training, research and other leadership activities working with more than 24,000 children and families each year.
