Eat your way through dineLA, starting by the airport
As Los Angeles continues to become a culinary destination for epicureans nationwide, foodies can launch their celebration of Discover Los Angeles’ dineLA within minutes of touching down in the city, at the LAX Sheraton Gateway hotel’s resident restaurant, Costero California Bar + Bistro.
For those not familiar with the twice-annual dineLA event and its summer iteration — this year themed “Summer Road Trip” — it is a 15-day showcase of Los Angeles dining diversity, from July 14 through July 28, presented by the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board.
Since a run-down of all the offerings for the more-than-300 dineLA restaurants would fill an encyclopedia, perhaps more voluminous than a Cheesecake Factory menu, this highlight of the Costero menu will serve as an example for diners who want an idea of the event’s options, which are based on special value menus of lunches of two or more courses for $15, $20, or $25; and three- or more course dinners for $29, $39, $49, or $95 or more.
Costero, known for putting a Californian coastal twist on traditional American cuisine. During dineLA this summer, Costero will offer a three-course prix fixe dinner, with a choice of wine.
Their dineLA dinner menu, served from 5 to 10 pm, will feature a three-course menu, to include a choice of Cellar No. 8 Merlot or Napa Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc; an appetizer choice of Green Chili Stew with Cilantro-Lime Crema and Warm Tortillas, Blue PEI Mussels with 329 Lager and Crostini, or Pork Belly and Brussel Sprouts with Gingered Soy Glaze with Peanuts and Chili Oil.
For entrées, there is a choice of Short Rib Macaroni and Cheese with Nueske’s Bacon, Cavatappi and White Cheddar; Miso-Glazed Salmon with Shrimp Fried Rice and Sweet Soy; or eight-ounce Flat Iron served with Pomme Frites and Port Wine Demi. For dessert – Choice of Butterscotch Budino, Buttermilk Panna Cotta or Crème Brûlée.
For Angelenos and visitors who want to sample a variety of LA’s food offerings, with signature dishes and other chef’s favorites, dineLA is a perfect opportunity to try the best of the best. Though no tickets or advance purchase is required for dineLA, reservations are recommended.
